What is Ithaka?

Ithaka is a text-only social app for writing and reading. There are no photos and no videos. You post words, and every post gets its own hand-drawn sticker drawn from what you wrote. It is free on iPhone and Android.

Do I need an invite to join Ithaka?

No. Ithaka is open to everyone. Download it free from the App Store or Google Play, sign up, and you can start reading and writing straight away.

Is Ithaka free?

Yes. Ithaka is free to download and free to use on both iPhone and Android. Reading and writing cost nothing. Some advanced features may become part of a paid plan later.

Is Ithaka available on Android and iPhone?

Yes. Ithaka is on the App Store for iPhone and on Google Play for Android.

What languages can I write in on Ithaka?

Ithaka supports writing in 7 languages: Hindi, English, Gujarati, Marathi, Marwadi, Punjabi and Sanskrit.

How is Ithaka different from Instagram or Threads?

Instagram and Threads are built around images, video and reach. Ithaka is text-only, so there is nothing to pose for or edit, and posts are written to be read rather than scrolled past.

Who made Ithaka?

Ithaka is built by Apurva Raj and operated by Text Theory LLP, a limited liability partnership incorporated in India under the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008. He builds it in public, with daily behind-the-scenes on Instagram and deep-dive build logs on YouTube.
